Getting started

How do I add a widget to my Home Screen?

  1. Create and save a design in the Vital app.
  2. Touch and hold an empty area of your Home Screen until the apps jiggle.
  3. Tap the + in the top corner, search for Vital, choose a size, and tap Add Widget.
  4. Long-press the placed widget → Edit Widget → choose which of your saved designs it should show.

Which devices and trackers work with Vital?

Any device or app that syncs to Apple Health — Apple Watch, Garmin, Whoop, Oura, Fitbit, Polar, Coros, and more. Vital reads whatever those devices write into Apple Health.

Data & metrics

A metric shows "No Data." Why?

Vital can only display what's in Apple Health. If a metric is empty:

I wore my Apple Watch but got no Sleep Score.

There is no "sleep score" built into Apple or Apple Watch — Vital calculates one from Apple Health's sleep stages (Deep, REM, Core, Awake). For that data to exist:

My widget isn't updating.

Widgets refresh automatically in the background, but iOS controls the timing. To force an update, open the Vital app (it refreshes and reloads your widgets). Make sure Background App Refresh is enabled for Vital in iOS Settings.

Where is Garmin Body Battery (or my Whoop / Oura score)?

Garmin never writes Body Battery, stress or training readiness to Apple Health, and Whoop and Oura keep their scores inside their own apps. Vital can only show what reaches Apple Health, so no widget app can display those scores. Vital's Readiness template reads the same underlying signals instead — HRV and resting heart rate compared with your own recent average.

What does "+12% VS 7D" mean?

It compares your latest reading with your own average over the previous 7 days (28 days for VO₂ max and body metrics). HRV, resting heart rate, respiratory rate and blood oxygen use the 7-day window. The sign is just the direction — Vital doesn't judge whether up or down is good, because that depends on the metric. A baseline needs three earlier readings, so a new tracker shows "Baseline in N readings" for the first few days. You can turn the comparison off per pane in the editor.

My widget is behind the Garmin Connect app.

Garmin Connect only writes to Apple Health when it runs, which can lag the Garmin app by an hour or more. Opening Garmin Connect forces a sync. Vital shows the time of the newest reading it has, and marks a pane "Stale" or "Sync required" when the tracker hasn't written anything for a while — that message is about the tracker's sync, not about Vital.

Vital Pro

What's included in Pro?

Unlimited saved widgets, the Large 2×2 widget, all 24 metrics, all 9 chart styles, 7-day and 30-day trends, and accent colours. Small and Medium widgets, goals, and the core metrics are free.

How do I restore a purchase?

Go to Settings inside the app and tap Restore Purchases, using the same Apple Account you bought Pro with.

How do I manage or cancel a subscription?

Subscriptions are managed by Apple: iPhone Settings → [your name] → Subscriptions. A lifetime purchase is one-time and never renews.

Privacy

Your health data stays on your device — Vital has no account and no cloud. The app sends only anonymous usage counts, which you can turn off in Settings. See our Privacy Policy for full details.
